Meet Wendy

Wendy Myers, MSW, LCSW

Owner/Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Hi! I am an LCSW with over 30 years of experience in the medical social work field. I see clients with acute/chronic illness, caregivers, grief and bereavement, women's health issues and life transitions (such as education, starting or changing a career, relationships, empty nesting, retirement, etc.) in a structured wellness approach to look at what they are able to control in their lives vs. what is out of control. I also assist with helping clients find tools to deal with anxiety and depression around these challenging issues.

More about Wendy

So glad to meet you! I am grateful that you are here to learn more about Find Your Balance LLC. I think it is important as a therapist to share some information with all of you about me and why I chose to create Find Your Balance, LLC.

I have always been interested and passionate about helping people find the right support and resources to get through the challenges of life. My family instilled in me a sense of compassion and empathy for everyone who is struggling with the twists and turns of life. My life journey took my husband and I along with our 3 boys into a world of becoming young adult caregivers for our 4 parents who battled 7 different types of cancer over a ten-year period. I also lost a sister to bacterial meningitis — losing a sibling can be a challenging loss leading to loss of one’s past, present and future.

Much of what I experienced as well as ALL of us experience throughout life is grief-these are reasons to reach out for support and guidance. As we ALL encounter so many changes and transitions in our lifetime, talking through these changes and transitions can reduce anxiety and fear making you feel heard and instill hope even in the face of an acute, chronic or terminal illness, relationship issues, career changes, caregiving, empty nesting, death of a loved one, etc.

These events that I faced while life changing taught me about focusing on what I can control and learning to find balance which encompasses — empathy, compassion, gratitude, hope and resiliency-these are the basic tools that I focus on to support and guide you through your own life challenges.

I began to develop my own tools for learning about and focusing on family systems with education.  I obtained my undergraduate degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Psychology with a minor in Marriage and Family Relations with an internship working with individuals dealing with addiction. Then I went on to obtain my master’s degree in social work with a concentration in Health/Mental Health from the University of Pittsburgh with internships at Presbyterian University Hospital and Children’s Hospital.

I have worked as a licensed clinical medical social worker in various Pittsburgh area hospitals prior to my current roles offering support and resources to a variety of patient/family populations. I have also facilitated various cancer support groups for more than 30 years.

I was a Senior Clinical Manager at Cancer Bridges for 4 years, which is a non-profit organization that provides support to those impacted by cancer through a variety of free programs and services; offering the emotional, social, and educational tools they need to navigate their cancer journey. In this role I oversaw the Counseling Services, Support Groups and the Grief Program. I provided counseling to clients both in person and virtually. I also co-facilitated and assisted in educational programming for the General Weekly Zoom Support Group, the General Metastatic Zoom Support Group, Panel Education Series and the Moving Through Grief Series. I enjoyed providing education and supervision for clinical graduate school interns.

Prior to Cancer Bridges, I was the Director of Counseling at the Cancer Caring Center offering virtual, in person and phone counseling for 11 years. I collaborated with the Development Manager to assist in the management and clinical supervision of the support group facilitators. I offered support, education, guidance and resource referrals for individuals, couples, and families. I co-created and facilitated their 10-week Moving Through Grief Series. I also facilitated their General Metastatic, Brain Tumor and General Support groups.

Since July 2025, with all the knowledge I have gathered over 35 years of social work-I have been focusing on expanding my private practice Find Your Balance LLC which I founded in 2017, offering two in person office locations in the North Hills of Pittsburgh and in the Strip District of Pittsburgh along with seeing clients virtually. I work with individuals, couples and families. My areas of expertise include acute/chronic illness, caregiver support, grief and bereavement, women’s health issues and supporting adults/young adults who are navigating the challenges of their life journey with education, career and relationships.

I am fortunate to continue to work with Cancer Bridges both by having an office location in their building as well as facilitating their grief programs including Holidays and Grief, Moving Through Grief Series and Reimagined Grief Connect.

I love and value education. I often speak at various cancer and health related conferences as well as write and assist with clinical editing of various articles and books for cancer related publications on topics discussing both the needs of survivors and their caregivers.

I have completed a certificate in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing). I am a member of NASW, Women of the North, Pittsburgh Bereavement Support Network, Cancer and Environment Network of Southwestern PA, PA Cancer Coalition-Survivorship Committee, American College of Surgeons Survivorship Standard-UPMC Hillman and PA Oncology Resource Team.

I was honored to receive the PNC Community Caring Award from Susan G. Komen Western PA in 2019 at Race for the Cure.

Now that we have met, I hope that you will want to work together to find YOUR own balance with support, education and guidance from FIND YOUR BALANCE LLC! We are here to bring you hope and guide you towards peace and joy whether you are an individual, couple or family.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Best,

Wendy
